01 ORIGIN

How wine became the work.

I grew up around wine. My parents took my sister and me to France and Italy as kids and pushed us to partake in the local culture, to immerse ourselves. Those trips stayed with me.

The career started by chance. A wine shop near my college in Westchester gave me an interview. The two young owners took a liking to me, offered to teach me, and I stayed for several years.

When I finished college I signed up with WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and left for California. What was supposed to be a two-week vineyard learning trip turned into almost three years. I fell for the work.

02 SERVICE

Where I learned service.

Wineries taught me service. How to read a room. How to tailor an experience to a guest. How to make wine resonate for anyone, regardless of their level of knowledge. How to approach wine without judgment.

Restaurants taught me how to build a wine list. I worked in a high-end French restaurant in Connecticut, training staff to talk about wine and folding everything I'd learned in Napa into the way the room ran. Food and wine coexisted in a way I'd never imagined.

The meal taught me the most important thing. The wine list wasn't the point. The people were. The night was. The way food and wine sat together at the table. That was the point.

03 THE SHIFT

Coming home.

I moved home in 2021 and started working in East Coast wineries. To my surprise, the work felt familiar. Less expensive than the West Coast, less pretentious, but just as focused on making the experience memorable and joyful.

That same year, I started doing private tastings for people I'd met at the wineries. I'd go to their homes, build taste experiments to dazzle their guests and excite their palates, and walk people through wine in a way they hadn't experienced before.

In 2025 I formally established Tastings with the Glass Man. It was time to make the business official.

MEET ZACH

Wine Educator.
Beverage Director.
Certified Specialist of Wine.

Hi, I'm Zach. I run Tastings with the Glass Man. Let me tell you a little about why I do what I do.

As a Wine Educator, nothing makes me happier than seeing someone try a wine for the first time, step back, and say "wow, I didn't know I liked this kind of wine!" There is so much incredible wine in the world. When I have the chance to make those wines accessible to someone for the first time (or for the 30th time), it reminds me of exactly why I do this.

Welcome to Tastings with the Glass Man — private tastings, wine education, corporate events, and wedding services. Glad you're here.
